After this palette FINALLY being in stock at Ulta (I honestly went to go buy this about 12 times before they restocked) I cannot stay away from it. Those colors, I mean COME ON. If you haven’t tried any of Anastasia’s eyeshadows, I urge you to immediately go out and make the investment. Yes, they can be a little pricey, but then again, so are those delicious acai bowls I love but you don’t see me saying I won’t eat them again…

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette $42

Seriously…I mean SERIOUSLY?!? If this doesn’t remind you of playing in piles of autumn leaves you either a) didn’t have a childhood, b) live in Florida like me, or c) have a seriously warped vision of fall. Either way, bottom line is that this thing is absolutely g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s and you should 100% have it in your life.  Oh, and did I mention how ridiculously easy these shadows are to blend?! Gone are the days of sitting in front of the mirror, fluffy brush in hand, praying for the moment your perfect transition shade fades seamlessly into your crease.

Now, for this look I couldn’t possibly take all the credit. If you’ve ever sat for hours in front of your computer drooling over makeup tutorials, you know that those perfectly created masterpieces tend to spark a little creative interest within yourself. This look came after watching Chrisspy’s tutorial on a look created with the Modern Renaissance shadows. Honestly, I highly recommend binge-watching her videos over the latest Netflix fad. Here, really, take a look for yourself: Chrisspy YouTube

IMG_5347.JPG

Flash forward about 2 hours later: here I am with a look inspired by Chrisspy’s; it might’ve taken 3 lipstick changes, half a pan of MAC’s Soft & Gentle highlighter, and one intense dance break after finally applying the lashes just right, this is what we get.

So you don’t have to listen to me ramble for the hundredth time about how to blend your transition shade or how Benefit’s Hula Bronzer is the eighth wonder of the world, I’ll link her video here so you can watch a real professional (and not just the one I like to pretend to be). Chrisspy Modern Renaissance

maxresdefault.jpg

I know, she’s stunning… it doesn’t get any easier to walk in front of your own mirror after seeing her face transform into the superhuman she is… even after your 12th video straight. Anyways, that’s besides the point.

Right now, I’m pretending there’s an actual sunset right in front of me, I’m sitting on my back porch in West Virginia watching the last of the autumn leaves change with a gigantic mug of apple cider. When in reality, I’m sitting in yesterday’s leggings with a full face of makeup for tomorrow’s post, dreading going to my French class. Makeup can take you places people!

img_5352

So, whether you’re content with where you’re at in this exact moment or yearning for an escape to your favorite getaway, the point is simple: Makeup can give you a quick break from your reality and whisk you away to your happy place. At least that’s the relief it gives me, and today, that’s a thing to be thankful for.

May your foundation match your neck, your concealer be creaseless, & your eyeliner so sharp it could cut a man. Amen.

As upsetting as the title of this post is to my mom, it definitely makes me smile. Totally feel like I’m rockin the 2014 era Kylie Jenner lip – two years later and it’s still my favorite. Original, I know. But the point of this all is that makeup is supposed to be what makes YOU happy!!! How cool is it that we get to literally create something on our face every day?!  The one thing that I constantly find myself falling in love with about makeup is the fact that there are no rules. Of course there are trends, I mean who doesn’t love a deep burgundy lip in the fall?? But you can go from wearing black lipstick one day to drawing on the freckles you always wanted the next and it is perfectly fine.

if you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right

img_5333

The best thing about this eye makeup look is that it takes about 2 minutes and uses 2 colors.. how much easier could it get?

Naturally, I went back to something I’ve loved for two years – the Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette. This is an incredible palette to have on hand at any time – it has a great mix of warms and neutrals with the perfect balance of matte to shimmer shades. Here’s what I did (in I kid you not, 2 minutes):

  • Grab a big fluffy brush and dust Peanut Butter all throughout the crease. You can take this color as high as you want – I have hooded eyes so I like to bring it up past my natural crease in order to see the color when I’m looking straight on.
  • Next, I just took my finger, dipped it into this beautiful shimmer champagne color called Butter Pecan and placed it on the inner 2/3 of my eye.
  • To blend it all a little better, I grabbed the same fluffy brush and with no extra product blended back and forth on the outer portion of my eye to get a gradient going from brown to gold.

I swear anyone can do this!! So many makeup looks people post are absolutely stunning, but it can get a bit difficult for the every day girl to try and recreate a look using 13 shadows, lashes, liner, and pigments. I’m all about being a little out there (I don’t think you’ll find someone who likes grey-toned lipsticks more than I do) but something like this is so much easier for every day wear.

img_5328

While I L O V E liquid matte lipsticks more than half the things on this planet, they can get a little messy and take me a good 5 minutes to apply precisely. To get my perfect King Kylie shade, I took a MAC Cosmetics lipliner in the color Boldly Bare (by the way, 10/10 highly reccomend) and applied it all over my lips. Not only has this bad guy stayed perfectly in place all day, it doesn’t transfer onto any cups/food which is a huge bonus.

I’m always open to hearing suggestions on what you guys would want to see, so don’t ever be afraid to reach out! Again, please click the link at the top and follow my instagram account and keep checking back in here to see what I post next!!

Summer is here!

11091238_1006409462704550_747394490_n

Can I just tell you all how much I’ve missed this?!?!? With school and everything else going on I had zero time to put into this and I definitely didn’t want that to happen. But I’m also not gonna half-ass something I love so much because that’s not me, not at all. After finally getting some time and being super inspired by summer colors, I decided it was now or never. I fell in love with this look I found on Pinterest and even though I have nothing on this gorgeous model, the makeup didn’t come out half bad.

I’m seriously thinking about starting up my Youtube channel again, so if any of you would like that to come back, please let me know! I’m still not sure what people want to see – tutorial based posts with in-depth steps, or just an overview of what I used & where. So once again guys, let me know!!! So much of this is based off of feedback I get from people so I really depend on your opinions!

Face Products:

  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation shade 3W1 Tawny
  • Maybelline Master Conceal Concealer shade 10 Fair
  • Loreal Hydra Perfecte Translucent Powder
  • Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzing Powder shade 5 Bali Brown & Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
  • Sonia Kashuk Arabian Dreams Sahara Sunset Highlighter

If you can’t tell, I’m a little more obsessed with highlighter/glow than I ever was before. Something about it just screams summer time to me! Skin has a natural luminosity so I love products that mimic that. The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector is an absolute must for me! I swear it helps your makeup stay on longer and it gives the most natural “glow from within” look you could imagine.

Eye Products:

  • MAC Prolongwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
  • Lorac eyeshadow in Buff – all over lid
  • Bobbi Brown Bronzer – upper crease
  • Lorac eyeshadow in Gold – buffed in crease and outer lid
  • Lorac eyeshadow in White – brow bone highlight
  • MAC Pigment in Vanilla – inner corner highlight
  • Loreal Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner in Black
  • Stila Glamoureyes Mascara
  • Brow Art 23 powder in Taupe : Any kind of brow powder would be fine. The brows are meant to look more natural and less sculpted than I usually prefer them. However, I don’t recommend the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powder, there isn’t enough color payoff for the price

11291849_1006409452704551_438203429_n

Lip Products:

  • Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Candy
  • Revlon Moon Drops Lipstick in Hot Coral

You could use either a hot pink or coral for this look, or really any lipstick color you’re comfortable with. But, you know me, I like to make things complicated so I layered both on top of each other.

I hope you guys like this look half as much as I liked putting it together! I swear I’ll be better about posting on this! I didn’t realize how much I would miss it & talking to all of you! As always, thank you so much for your support and for those that keep reading these posts and sharing them. It honestly means so much to me that I’m able to share some of what I know with you! It has been waaaay too long since I’ve done one of these! No excuses, but I’ve been super busy for the past of couple weeks. But – have no fear – I am back! Not that any of you probably actually missed me, but still… Anyway, like most of my makeup looks, I came up with this one while sitting at home watching endless episodes of Mad Men. Do any of you lose track of the days because of your obsession with Netflix?! I know I do, for all I know it’s really 2016 and there are flying cars outside my window.

I really wanted to play around with something I haven’t used before, so I picked up my Stila Magnificent Metals eyeshadow in “Metallic Lilac” . Now, I’ve tried these eyeshadows/pigments before and I really am not that incredibly impressed. Yes, they are gorgeous looking and give a great metallic sheen to the eye, but they slide around way too much for my liking. Either way, this is something a little different.

IMG_9505Since this post is centered around the eyes, I’ll just list all of the face products I used:

  • Becca Shimming Skin Perfector in Moonstone
  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC20
  • Chanel Perfection Lumiere in 40 Beige ( since I’m self tanning right now I had to mix foundation shades)
  • MAC Prolongwear Concealer in NC15
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit
  • Urban Decay De-Slick Powder
  • Benefit Blush in Dandelion

IMG_9503Now let’s talk about the eyes! This look is still incredibly wearable for the day, but if you want to take this into night you could easily put some darker purple in the outer corners.

  • First, I primed my eyes with MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre and set it with a flesh colored shadow.
  • Next, I took the shade Mauve from the Lorac Pro Palette and dusted it lightly into the crease as the  transition shade.
  • I took the Stila Metallic Lilac and put it all over my lid using my finger. With the texture of the eyeshadow, I think you get the most color payoff when using your finger. I set that in place with another Stila eyeshadow in the shade Impulse.
  • To deepen up the crease, I took Smashbox Parfait shadow and placed it in the crease, focusing on the outer half of the eye. Make sure to blend this with the Lilac shade to avoid any harsh lines down the center of your eye.
  • To highlight the brow bone and inner corner, I used MAC Shroom eyeshadow. *I also used this to highlight my cheekbones and ball of my nose – it’s one of my favorites
  • To finish off the eyes, I used Benefit Magic Ink Liquid Liner to do a cat eye and Rimmel Lash Accelerator on the top and bottom lashes

IMG_9504

Here is the finished look! It’s really quite simple but gives the eyes a lot of dimension. The shimmer is really fun for spring! I’m getting over the dark lips and heavy browns of fall/winter and really embracing lighter, more dewy finishes! I’m so so excited for all the new trends to come out so keep a look out for any upcoming spring looks! If you have any suggestions, let me know, I’d love to hear them! Have a great day! xoxo

So this in no way is beauty related, but I just have to get everything out there.

I think a HUGE part of growing up and experiencing life has to do with the people around you and how they may speak or act. I mean everyone is influenced  by those around them no matter how hard we like to think we’re all badass and tough on our own. No, that’s just not the way it works. The people around you play such a huge part in your overall experience and outlook on life.

With that being said, it is SO important to choose good people to be around and share your life. Now, not every decision you make is going to be a good one, but every decision will be a learning experience. And if life isn’t about learning and growing, what’s the point?

I feel that so many people are scared to stand up for themselves or say what they’re feeling just because of how people react. At the end of the day you have to be okay with yourself and the choices you make, no one else. Everyone should respect the fact that people are fundamentally different. No two people are always going to agree or feel the same way, yet everyone deserves the basic level of respect you naturally get when you’re a human being. It is beyond crazy to think that everything you say will be agreed with and praised, but it is even crazier to me to want everyone to agree with you. Opinions and disagreements facilitate conversation and change, they aren’t these evil things looking to tear apart our lives.

Now, with that all being said, some people take this too far. Disagreeing and causing pain and uneasiness just for the sake of doing so is never a good thing. I will never understand those that hurt others just for the sake of hurting them. Why do we spend time trying to bring people down? At the end of the day if we are surrounded by selfish, miserable people, we too will become that way. My point is this: treat others with kindness and surround yourself with only the kinds of people that treat you with the same kindness.

Life is hard enough as it is, we don’t need toxic people corrupting our daily lives. Ultimately, we are the only ones that can give people the chance to treat us badly. We all need to stand up and be done with the insensitivity and negativity that some people try to bring into our lives. At the end of the d ay, our lives are filled with the choices we make. You alone have the power to choose those that you share your life with, so share that wisely.

xoxo

The other day I got the chance to do my gorgeous friend Nicole’s makeup. I’m waaaaaay more confident in my ability to do my own makeup so I was naturally a bit nervous. However, I was pretty obsessed with the way it all turned out. It’s no surprise I grabbed the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette… I really can’t put this thing down. The colors are so warm and easy to blend that it is literally impossible for me to stay away.

As you can see Nicole has pretty darn flawless skin and RIDICULOUS eyes/cheekbones. For someone like me, it’s so exciting being able to play up someone’s features so naturally I was over the moon to enhance her already beautiful face. The eye technique I used (darker matte colors in the outer/inner corner and shimmer in the center) gives the eye dimension and makes them appear bigger/more awake. This is a great tool to use if you want to play up your eyes for any occasion with almost no effort.

Who doesn’t love chocolate?! Who doesn’t love makeup?! Who doesn’t love chocolate AND makeup?! Finally the makeup gods at Too Faced have graced my eyelids. I’m probably the last person in the world to have tried the Chocolate Bar palette, but it was definitely worth the wait. Safe to say I’m beyond obsessed. Not only are the colors gorgeous, but it legitimately smells like chocolate. Come on now, what girl wouldn’t be in love?

If you don’t feel like spending the $49 on the palette, do yourself a favor and stop by Sephora just to smell the darn thing

Check out my instagram, I post on there almost daily! Aleixsdecarufel_makeup

2 days into my “7 Days of Christmas” and I skip two whole days…forgive me! I’ve had so many things going on! Saturday was my 3 year anniversary with my boyfriend so we had to celebrate! Between the beach, dinner, and Christmas party I just didn’t have time to blog, but I did miss it!

IMG_8866

So…this is Jack! I know he’s gorgeous, but he’s mine so don’t get any ideas! If there’s any advice I could give to anyone, date your best friend! It’s been working out quite well for us so far 🙂

We spent the day at the beach and it was the absolute perfect day for it! Views like this make me so thankful to live in Florida

FullSizeRender FullSizeRender copy

I’ve never been one to buy actual bathing suit cover ups, so I try to keep it cute and simple. I paired an orange crop top with a scalloped hem with my favorite white high-waisted shorts. And of course, the loves of my life, my orange and red Ray-bans

DSC_1044

After the beach, Jack and I had a fantastic dinner at a cute little bistro overlooking the river. The waitress surprised us with dessert and a card signed by the whole restaurant!

IMG_8843

To finish the night off, I stopped by my best friend’s Christmas party. Crazy to believe Sara and I have been friends for 9 years already…. hold onto the good one’s guys, they’re too few and far between!

IMG_8867

Sunday was a relaxing day with my dad, watching football and cooking dinner. Together we made this slow-cooking chicken with kale (and probably 15 other things). It was a delicious meal perfect for cold nights! If you have a dutch oven I really suggest just throwing things in it and setting it in the oven for a few hours. Basically a fool-proof dinner that won’t disappoint. IMG_8882 IMG_8883

If anyone has a Francesca’s near them, please go now!!! They have the cutest last minute gifts for the holidays (like this mug!) Rarely do I ever go inside without finding something absolutely adorable. They always have tons of sales and deals!

For all of my fellow Beyoncè lovers, hopefully you can understand how hard it was walking away from this

IMG_8885I finally did another holiday look, completely inspired by Christmas trees! While I love the classic glitter, winged liner, and red lipstick, it tends to get a little overdone. So, naturally, I just grabbed a bold color and did whatever came to mind. Using Morphe Brushes eyeshadows and MAC Fix+ I created this green liner look. It’s fun and festive while still being wearable. I don’t know about you, but I’ll take any excuse to wear a colored winged liner!

IMG_8899  IMG_8896

If you’re looking for pigmented eyeshadows for a good price, check out morphebrushes.com! They have a ton of great products and good prices. The sales they have are unbeatable. The brush I used for this eyeliner only cost me 89 cents! I highly recommend this for anyone who loves makeup but doesn’t want to spend a fortune.

As always, thank you for reading! Have a great evening and I’ll talk to you all soon!

Hello! Today was my first time ever going to our local farmer’s market in my hometown. If anyone knows me, they know I love food, especially fresh fruit and vegetables. I’ve always seen those cute open air markets on TV but never knew there was one where I live. My mom has always been telling me how great it was, and I was definitely not disappointed. With about 100 or so different vendors, there were hundreds of things to choose from such as fruit, vegetables, flowers, soaps, jewelry…you name it, chances are they had it!

As we were walking past my mom’s favorite bread vendor, I saw the most gorgeous butterscotch pecan loaf. Seriously, this thing was covered in butterscotch chips and pecans and let me tell you, it definitely was as good as it sounds. Honestly, probably even better than it sounds.

Totally felt like Carrie Bradshaw walking around New York City for a minute, don’t judge.

IMG_8788

I don’t know where on Earth you’ll find colors like these, everything was so bright and cheery!

It was still super warm here in Florida but wearing tank tops and shorts in December just feels so wrong. I paired this thin sweater with some high-waisted silk shorts and called it a day.

DSC_1030I know this last one looks like I’m hailing a cab in the middle of my front yard, but again, pretty reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw… plus the Santa is just too cute

Today my little brother had his very first party! Sadly, here I am on a Friday night talking about the social life of a 13 year old from my bed at 7:30 p.m, but that’s besides the point. The theme (of course) was “Ugly Christmas Sweaters” so he picked out this Rudolph face with blinking lights

DSC_1043

And like any good Floridian winter, my sister and I ended it with an afternoon by the pool. I’d take a bikini over a snowsuit any day.

You can still enter to win my favorite holiday lip combo! Thank you & have a great evening, xoxo

Only 7 days left until Christmas! Can you believe this year has gone by so fast?! I know I’m a little late to do the “12 Days of Christmas” that I was originally planning to do, so we’ll just go for the 7 Days of Christmas. This “mini series” I will be doing will be a little look into my life up until December 25. I’ll be posting little bits and pieces of everything from makeup, outfits, recipes, and anything else I do during the day. Read all the way through for a special chance to win my favorite holiday lip combo!

In the fall and winter, if I’m not wearing an oversized sweater, there’s a 99% chance I’m in some kind of plaid. This short sleeve boxy-cut top is from Forever 21 (%15.80). It’s super light and silky so it’s perfect for layering or wearing alone. I’ve been super into chunky jewelry so I paired it with this gold necklace from Target ($12.99).

Our tree randomly fell over and broke, crushing half of our ornaments yesterday. Today, we picked up a brand-new 9 foot Frasier Fir tree and decorated…Christmas round #2

DSC_0941

Do you really even know anyone who actually enjoys putting lights on a Christmas tree?!

DSC_0966

And tree #2 is done! If my mom was a holiday, it would totally be Christmas. She’ll strategically place each ornament on a branch and rearrange it ten times until everything is just right. (Funny story… One year she let my brother, sister, and I decorate and after we went to bed she redid the entire thing to make it just the way she wanted) It turned out gorgeous though!

DSC_0969

DSC_0972

Two of my favorite ornaments: Lipstick tube… you probably could have guessed that one! and a Day of the Dead skull, one of my mom’s absolute favorite things.

With all the cookies I’ve made this season it’s amazing no one has actually mistaken me for Santa Claus (or maybe it’s my lack of gray bear and always sunny disposition). But really, we have SO. MANY. COOKIES. Today’s were a childhood favorite of my mom’s, Chocolate Crinkle Cookies!

DSC_0964…sadly there are as good as they look. I should probably stay far, far away from these.

Now for the fun parts!

I’ve had this eye look in my head all week long and wanted to try it on someone other than myself. So thanks mom, you’re the bomb! I wanted to use a silver pigment I got from MAC a few years ago with a bold blue winged liner. To me, this screams winter. Green and red aren’t the only Christmas colors!

DSC_0976To start out, I used a really light taupe-brown color to slightly blend in the crease to give a little bit of dimension.

get-attachment-4.aspxNext, taking the MAC pigment in “platinum”, I added layers and layers on the eyelid. It doesn’t show up well in this photo, but the silver is ridiculously pigmented and metallic.

get-attachment-3.aspxFinally, I took NYX Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner in “extreme blue” and built up a thick wing. The color gets way more intense the more layers you add, so I would definitely recommend waiting 30 seconds between coats to get the most payoff.

I absolutely love this look, the blue eyeliner is so unexpected but totally festive. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had my fair share of black winged eyeliner and was in desperate need of something fresh.

****** I was really feeling the whole silver theme, so I grabbed a cheap drugstore eyeliner and went to town on my lips. Call me crazy but I kind of love how it turned out… ******

Don’t worry though, you won’t be seeing me wear this out in public any time soon.

get-attachment-2.aspx

Here’s the best part of this post….the GIVEAWAY! There’s no doubt a bold red lip is always in style, but around Christmas I find myself wearing it more and more. For one lucky winner, you will receive:
